Adult and Child Lessons

Adult and Child Lessons

Our Adult and Child lessons are for swimmers aged newborn to 3yrs+. They have a maximum of 5 swimmers per class and run lessons six days a week.

Our private pool is kept at 30degrees, has reduced chlorine (as it has a UV filtration system) and has steps leading into water. We have free onsite parking and spectators are welcome to view lessons from our poolside seating. Our youngest spectators are welcome to make use of water table, library and playpen.

We have a shower, small communal changing room and 5 individual changing pods which have fold down changing tables available. We are a breastfeeding friendly site and have comfy seating making it super easy to provide a post-swim feed.

Each of our classes are grouped by age group so that we teach skills which are relevant to the swimmers development. With only 5 swimmers per class it means that teachers have the time to build trust with both you and your swimmer, and tailor the lesson around the individual needs of each swimmer.

All of our staff are experienced, friendly and simply love their job! We theme each of our weeks so even though swimmers will be working on key repetitive skills (water confidence, bubble blowing, floating etc), these skills are delivered in a fun and creative different way each week. For example some of our themes include Magic Week, Dinosaur Week, Under the Sea Week, Construction Week, Creepy Crawly Week, Food Week - please do take a look at our social media page to see what we have been up to recently.

What to expect at your first lesson-

Durley House is on Winchester Road, Durley, SO32 2AJ. To avoid congestion we ask that you do your best to not arrive on site no earlier than ten minutes before the lesson is due to start. There is plenty of free parking on the large gravel area out the front of the house. Please do not park in the spaces on the right hand side of the roundabout (these are for the homeowners) or in the road leading up to the car park. There is disability parking directly out the front of the entrance of the pool.

The pool entrance is the building on the left of the house (as you look at the house) and there is a flag out the front. A member of our lovely Front of House team will greet you at the pool reception, sign you in, show you and your little one onto poolside and introduce you to your instructor.

We ask that you remove your shoes before heading on to the poolside and leave these on the shoe rack in the reception area. Babies in carriers are welcome on to poolside however we do ask to not bring buggies inside. Siblings are welcome to spectate and we do have a book corner and water play station which they are welcome to use. We do insist that siblings do not enter the water or dangle their feet in the pool while spectating. Poolside can be quite warm, especially in Summer, so we recommend not wearing lots of layers.

We have a double nappy policy in place for our under 3yrs. This means that we ask that swimmers wear a disposable swim nappy and then a happy nappy over the top. It means that should a swimmer have an "accident" that it doesn't leak into the pool. We do carry spare disposable and happy nappies on site which you are welcome to borrow. Some customers choose to put their swimmers in an additional layer on top of this - like a swimming costume- but the choice is yours.

We would suggest feeding swimmers no less than an hour before the hours starts, however we do recommend making sure you have a snack and bottle for them to have fairly swiftly after the lesson finishes.

There is a small group changing room, individual changing rooms, changing mats and a shower available after the session. We also have spare swim nappies, costumes, goggles, towels and our lovely front of house if always on hand should you just simply need an extra set of hands (they love a baby cuddle while you are getting yourself changed!). Lessons are staggered to prevent overcrowding of the changing rooms however we do ask that you aim to take a quick shower and aim to take no longer than ten minutes getting changed.

On leaving the premises in your car we ask that you please turn left on to Winchester Road and not turn right crossing a lane of traffic. Some cars go quite fast down Winchester road.

If you get a chance do give us a follow on our social media accounts and you will be able to stay up to date with what our weekly themes are, when we are running holiday courses, reminders about term dates and when re-enrolment emails are sent out.
